This Monday was the 2 year anniversary of Tom's death, so Connor and I took a trip to Charlotte, NC this past weekend to spend it with Tom's best friends from college and their families. Stephen and Elizabeth were the wonderful hosts, who graciously allowed us to take over their house, kicking their kids out of their rooms, eating all of their syrup (which I hear Stephen has already replaced) and drinking everything in sight. In all there were 7 adults and 9 kids around and I'm going to try to get the names and ages right - feel free to correct me on the spellings/ages. Adults (Stephen and Elizabeth, Matt and Sarah, Chris (Street) and Susan, and me) Kids (Sarah Porter, Age 7; Caroline, Age 5; James, Age 4; Jack, Age 3; Collen, Age 2; Connor, Age 2; Jack, Age 2 (almost); Anna Cate, Age 1; Katherine, Age 3 months).
S&E have the perfect house for this type of get-together. It's plenty big on the inside and they have a fenced in yard with all kinds of toys for the kids. Plus it helped that the weather was absolutely beautiful and we were able to spend a lot of time outside! The kids ran themselves ragged, and the adults had a great time catching up with each other and sharing Tom stories. And I'm still laughing about Stephen fighting with a tree Saturday night...I think the tree may have won, at least until it got thrown into the fire.
Thanks so much for a wonderful weekend! We love all of you guys and can't wait to do it again soon!

Imagine the trouble these kids can get into when they're all a little older...trouble sort of like their dad's used to partake in...
Lots of love.

Trying hard not to imagine it just yet...
Looks like it was so much fun! Who knew that the boys of Belmont would turn out to be such great family men! Must have been something in the water out there...
So glad that these connections are still going strong. Looking forward to many reunions in the future!
Who knew indeed??? We had such a great time with all 947 of you guys...and the true miracle was that there were no trips to the ER...I'm speaking of Matt, Stephen and Street not really their offspring!! My kids have asked everyday when everyone is coming back...
The pics are great, can you send me some in an e-mail??
Love, Elizabeth
Wish we were there - another 5 Doughertys to party with.
Miss you guys!
Laughter, friends and kids...what a great way to celebrate Tom! Thinking of you guys.
